It’s going to be the most beautiful day of your life as you wed amongst the vines, in a forest, a grand garden or amid lavender fields. Or maybe in an historic chapel or a spacious, light-filled restaurant overlooking a vineyard, a private lake or the sea.
Garden weddings: the Dandenong Ranges are famous for garden weddings. There’s the perfect setting of one of the grand gardens, such as SkyHigh at Mt Dandenong which has a reception centre, or an informal wedding on the edge of a magnificent forest. The Mornington Peninsula has three huge maze gardens with breathtaking wedding locations, while Morning Star Estate has a backdrop of 75,000 rose bushes.
Winery weddings: the Yarra Valley and Mornington Peninsula have vineyards large and small, many with restaurants and cellar doors that provide superb wedding feasts or finger food. Stones of the Yarra Valley has a private wedding chapel and a fine restaurant in a restored 1868 barn.
Country estate weddings: Lindenderry at Red Hill and Woodman Estate are boutique country hotels on the Mornington Peninsula. In the Yarra Valley, the Sebel Heritage, Chateau Yering, Ainsworth Estate and Balgownie Estate are popular choices.
Seaside weddings: on Phillip Island, you can wed on a golden sand beach or clifftop, then hold your reception in a nearby resort or restaurant. Historic Churchill Island is a divine place to wed. On the Mornington Peninsula, Sorrento and Portsea are very stylish, as are the famous bathing box beaches of Mornington and Mt Eliza.
