The heart and soul of this region is our villages. From the little hilltop towns of the Dandenong Ranges to the lively seaside villages of the Mornington Peninsula and Phillip Island, our villages capture the history, charm and lifestyles of the region.
In the Yarra Valley, you can explore vineyard villages which have been put on the international map by the Valley’s world-class wines and fine winery restaurants. Other towns have celebrated attractions, such as Healesville Sanctuary.
Multi-million dollar cliff top mansions
On the Mornington Peninsula, there’s a string of villages along two coastlines, and more dotted through the hinterland where vineyards, award-winning restaurants, orchards and gardens flourish. Some have a delightful country style, others have famous features such as Portsea and Sorrento’s multi-million dollar clifftop mansions.
Phillip Island has a handful of charming seaside villages, with Cowes, Newhaven, Rhyll and San Remo retaining their early fishing village history. You can still throw a line off the jetty and catch your own fish for dinner.
All villages have an excellent range of accommodation. In the Yarra Valley and the Mornington Peninsula hinterland, expect fine country retreats. In the Dandenong Ranges, luxurious B&Bs and little cottages. At seaside villages, you’ll find everything from luxurious holiday homes to breezy apartments and cottages.
The shopping is just as varied, from vintage clothing and antiques to contemporary artwork and fashion. So come and explore.
