Situated to the west of Cowes, Ventnor hugs the coastline with magic views to French Island and Flinders on the Mornington Peninsula. The peaceful farmlands around Ventnor have been in the same families for many generations, the beaches are quiet and seem to go on forever, but this area has heaps of action.
The world famous Grand Prix Circuit offers tours, go karting, hot laps and a café for visitors, and hosts world class events through the year. Laser Strike amps up the action too, with laser skirmish guns that shoot harmless beams of infra-red light, make lots of noise and have sensors on the targets that light up when hit.
Wine lovers should head for the Phillip Island Vineyard on Berry’s Beach Road, where the cellar door serves platters as well as giving wine tastings. History lovers should take a walk to the end of Grossard Point Road, where the grave of early settle Captain Grossard is located. He was accidentally shot at the McHaffie Homestead (home to major pastoralists), and his last wish was to be buried on this rugged coastline.
