A pretty fishing village, Newhaven is just over the bridge from the mainland. This is a wonderful spot if you love seaside activities – you can stroll along the waterfront, cast a line and see if you can catch the family dinner, swim in the sheltered bays on either side of the bridge, or kayak to Churchill Island. If your luck is good and the fish are biting, there are a number of attractive little places where you can enjoy a picnic and BBQ.
Although it’s a small village, Newhaven looks after visitors with a range of holiday accommodation, a supermarket, surf shop and eateries. Essential holiday indulgences are here too: you can relax with a wellness treatment or massage or feed the inner child with chocolate from the Phillip Island Chocolate Factory.
Newhaven is also the nearest village to the Churchill Island Heritage Farm, one of Victoria’s earliest small farms which has an historic house and farm buildings, traditional herb and flower gardens, an orchard, and a visitor centre where you can enjoy morning or afternoon tea.
Other nearby attractions include the National Vietnam Veterans Museum and Philip Island Helicopters for scenic flights. The Phillip Island Visitor Information Centre is close by too.
