Cranbourne is half way between Melbourne and Phillip Island, and an essential stop for anyone who loves gardens and natural landscaping. The Australian Garden at the Royal Botanic Gardens Cranbourne is a huge attraction, and in 2011 won a coveted Gold Medal at the prestigious Chelsea Flower Show in England.
Since then, stage 2 of the garden has been completed after 20 years of planning and landscaping. Following the journey of water from the Red Centre to the coast, the final stage of the garden includes 11 new precincts and 170,000 plants representing more than 850 different varieties.
There’s a picnic area with BBQs, a café and gift shop, and lots to entertain the kids.
