Known for a campground that has been a holiday favourite for generations of families, Rosebud is the quintessential seaside village. It has a stretch of strip shopping about 2km long, with a shopping centre at either end.
Right over the road is the beach, with shallow and safe swimming for kids. The long pier is a favourite haunt for anglers, kids jumping into the sea and snorkellers seeking out the curious little sea dragons and other fascinating marine creatures which live around the pier. Peninsula Stand Up Paddle and Peninsula Kiteboarding are based here - Stand Up Paddle also goes to all major Peninsula beaches.
While there’s a big focus on the sea at Rosebud, there’s lots more to see and do. You can cycle along the foreshore boardwalk, or if you’re a golfer, tee off at the Rosebud Country Club or the Rosebud Park Golf Course. This is ‘The Cups’ golf region, where sand dunes provide naturally contoured challenges and the sandy soils drain quickly for good year round play. Gunnamatta Trail Rides is based at Fingal near Rosebud, and takes bush and beach rides for beginners through to experienced riders. In March, there’s a huge kite festival, including workshops for kite making and plenty of kids’ activities.
Rosebud attracts movie buffs in November, with a film festival at the six-screen Rosebud Cinema and the Peninsula Short Film Festival. There’s lots of accommodation around Rosebud, including holiday homes to rent, apartments, motels and camping facilities.
